The Road Goes On Forever, But The Party Never Ends for Kubiak

And here we are, 2011. Texans are 1-0!... only because the NFL season bleeds over into the first week of 2011.

These four things I know are true:

  1. Gary Kubiak will retain his job as Head Coach of the Houston Texans
  2. Frank Bush was fired as Defensive Coordinator, along with 3 others on the defensive staff.
  3. Wade Phillips (yes, that Wade Phillips) is coming in to take over as Defensive Coordinator
  4. According to Matt Jackson (Sports790) it appears Bernard Pollard is on the way out.

Let's think back to things that have stayed the same in all 9 years of the Texans existence...

  • Disturbed - Down With The Sickness as the player intro music... fine by me.
  • AC/DC - TNT for every kickoff. Ever. Also fine by me, although I'd like a little change here.
  • Clay Walker - Football Time In Houston. I can almost guarantee this song will never disappear. Home town guy writes a song for the local team? Owner is all over that. Clay Walker will be 90 years old collecting millions from the Texans.
  • Cheerleader Uniforms, except for Christmas/Halloween. The rest are essentially the same.

Ok I'm nitpicking a little... but I'm kind of grasping at straws right now trying to decide what I think about this whole situation. Not happy about Kubiak coming back. Glad Bush is gone, but not sure how having 2 known to be soft coaches is gonna help on this team. McNair is clearly looking for people to be friends with the players. They need a coach. Now they don't need Mike Singletary spitting in their faces all game long, but at least a little bit of something.

As Dskillz says, this is all a ploy to get the former Oiler fans back on the Texans bandwagon. Kubiak, Bum, Wade, Pastorini, Childress, Campbell, Moon. Play the TNT (Texans N Titans) rivalry in the Astrodome, with a packed Dome, and 69,500 others watching on the screens at Reliant.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Wade.

You're right, they don't need Singletary, but it would be pretty $$$ if Kubiak would drop his pants in the locker room once and a while.
