Rockets powered by fairy dust and unicorn blood
Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 10:40PM Generally, I tend to keep my ranting to a few IMs between friends, maybe a tweet here and there... but this is getting a bit delusional. There are always going to be fans who will support a team no matter what, and I consider myself one of them. I still go to games, I still buy jerseys, shirts, caps, etc. Some fans will take it to the point of congratulating players on a hard loss for trying hard. And to be honest, the Rockets, don't have the talent currently to be a contender, and probably not enough to make it to the playoffs.
I'm fine with that, the problem I have lies in the Rockets official twitter account. Much like 2 months ago when the Houston Texans twitter account was trying to drum up fan support by pointing out the 1-2 things the Texans did right. And then retweeting fans saying various things with the same tone as a mother telling her son who's gone 0 for 4 in a tee ball game that he did a great job.
Back to the Rockets, they essentially reached that point tonight. I'd say I'm fairly obsessed with twitter, so it's rare that I don't go back and read what has been posted since the last thing I read. I don't think I miss much, and I've never seen the Rockets twitter account do it so blatantly. Maybe a retweet here and there during a game, or before a game, a couple after a game, but these for some reason just seemed like little Billy just scored 3 goals on his own team on the soccer field.

Next time can we at least pretend we're having a pretty bad season? It's kind of aggravating to have teams come out and try to tell their fans everything is ok. This guy thinks it's a bit over the top sometimes. I knew the Texans Communist Radio Network existed, but please don't tell me they've partnered with the Rockets. I know Daryl Morey is generally pretty honest with his assessment of the team. Whenever I hear him on the radio, he seems to be aware that the team is not that good, and is trying to do whatever he can to go land a player or two that might make us a bit better. Whoever is running the twitter account may need to slow down a bit with the sunshine and butterflies after a loss.
Granted, we did nearly erase a 20 pt deficit... but that just means at some point we were down 20 in a 24 minute period. At the end of the day, we came up just short... again, as has been the case in a majority of the games this year. Also, I hate you Chuck Hayes. Way to turn the most exciting player in the league into a jump shooter. OK... I don't really hate him. Jordan Hill on the other hand... holy jesus. Brian Cook? Really?

Sigh.
